The Clarity II by Lutronic delivers a precise, concentrated wavelength of light that selectively targets the melanin within the hair follicle. As the pigment absorbs this energy, controlled thermal injury is created within the follicular unit, impairing its ability to produce new hair.

Because the laser is attracted to pigment within the hair—not the surrounding tissue—the treatment is highly selective and leaves the surrounding skin intact. This selective photothermolysis makes laser hair removal most effective for individuals with darker hair and lighter skin tones, however, Clarity II’s dual-wavelength technology (755 nm Alexandrite + 1064 nm Nd:YAG) safely expands treatment capabilities for darker skin types as well.

  • 2–4 Weeks Before Treatment

    • Avoid sun exposure, tanning beds, and self-tanner. Skin must not be tanned or sunburned.

    • Do not wax, thread, tweeze, or use depilatory creams. The hair follicle must remain intact for the laser to target it.

    • Discontinue photosensitizing skincare on the treatment area:

      • Retinoids/retinol

      • AHAs/BHAs (glycolic, lactic, salicylic acid)

      • Benzoyl peroxide

      • Exfoliating scrubs

    • Stop antibiotics or medications that increase photosensitivity (only if medically cleared).

    7 Days Before Treatment

    • Avoid chemical peels, microneedling, or abrasive treatments on the area.

    • Hydrate the skin and avoid irritation or barrier damage.

    • If you’re prone to ingrown hairs, avoid picking or exfoliating aggressively.

    24–48 Hours Before Treatment

    • SHAVE the treatment area (close to the skin, not razor-burned).

    • Do not use exfoliants, acids, or active skincare on the area.

    • Avoid heavy exercise, heat exposure, or anything that may cause irritation.

    Day of Treatment

    • Arrive with clean, product-free skin — no lotion, deodorant, oils, self-tanner, or makeup.

    • Wear loose, comfortable clothing if treating body areas.

    • If treating underarms, do not apply deodorant prior.

  • Immediately After Treatment

    • Mild redness, warmth, or perifollicular “peppering” (tiny bumps around follicles) is normal.

    • Apply cool compresses if needed for comfort.

    • Avoid touching, rubbing, or scratching the area.

    First 24–48 Hours

    • Avoid heat:

      • Hot showers

      • Saunas

      • Steam rooms

      • Hot tubs

      • Intense workouts

    • Avoid sun exposure — treated skin will be more sensitive.

    • Do not apply self-tanner, deodorant (if treating underarms), or fragranced products.

    • Use a gentle, fragrance-free moisturizer if dryness occurs.

    • Avoid retinoids, acids, scrubs, exfoliating mitts, or harsh products.

    3–7 Days After

    • Hair may shed from the follicle — this is expected and not new growth.

    • Light exfoliation (gentle only) may help release shedding hairs.

    • Apply SPF 30–50 daily to any exposed areas.

    • Continue avoiding active skincare until the skin is fully calm.

    Between Sessions

    • Only shave—no waxing, tweezing, or threading between appointments.

    • Maintain consistent scheduling (usually every 4–6 weeks depending on the area).

    • Protect the area with SPF to prevent pigmentation.

    When to Contact Your Provider

    • Excessive swelling lasting more than 72 hours

    • Blistering (rare)
